Late night painting = therapy. There is something to be said about the positive benefits of just creating something. As a former therapist (LCSW), I was trained to provide clients with tools in order to encourage better self expression/awareness, improve coping skills, develop stress management techniques, relieve anxiety, etc. For me it is releasing a part of myself onto canvas...sharing my experience with others. The spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional benefits are an added bonus.
I encourage you to create. Not an artist? Me either really, but I can pick up a brush, enjoy the experience, and be confident/hopeful that my creation may somewhere down the line encourage others to do the same.
